Staff
Randa Hojaiban, once an intern at CLC, is a staff attorney. She has been with Children's Law Center since 2001. Randa completed her undergraduate studies at Fordham University and is a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Law. She also earned a Masters in Social Work from the University of Connecticut School of Social Work, which she applies in developing outcome measurement tools for CLC as well as in the course of her legal duties. In addition to representing children, Randa also acts as a mediator in the Families in Transition program and supports the Children’s Law Line. She is admitted to practice law in both Connecticut and New York.
Nancy Strini is a Staff Attorney. Prior to enrolling in law school, Nancy was a senior executive at Reader's Digest Magazine. While attending Quinnipiac University School of Law, Nancy interned at the Children's Law Center. Like all of our organization's legal staff, most of her time is dedicated to the Legal Representation Program, primarily in the Waterbury Judicial District. She also supports the Children's Law Line, the Families in Transition Program and the Advocacy Program.
Aisha A. Roche is our Spanish speaking staff attorney. Aisha completed her undergraduate studies at Goucher College and is a graduate of Quinnipiac University School of Law. Aisha graduated with an honors concentration certificate in Family and Juvenile Law and is admitted to practice in both Connecticut and New York.
Jodie Comer is our Staff Attorney in Hartford. Jodie completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Maine and is a graduate of Quinnipiac University School of Law with a concentration certificate in Family and Juvenile Law. She also earned a Masters degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Child and Adolescent Development from the University of Connecticut. Like all of our legal staff, Jodie represents children through the Legal Representation Program, supports the Children's Law Line, and acts as a mediator in the Families in Transition program. Jodie is admitted to practice law in Connecticut.
Monique Ryan is our newest Staff Attorney. Monique completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Connecticut and graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Law. Prior to joining the CLC staff, Monique practiced family law at various private practices. Like all of our legal staff, Monique represents children through the Legal Representation Program, supports the Children's Law Line, and acts as a mediator in the Families in Transition program. Monique is admitted to practice law in Connecticut.
Tom Buczynski is the Children’s Law Center’s mental health professional. Tom received his MSW from Boston College in 2004. Prior to joining the CLC staff, Tom ran the case management program at one of Washington, D.C.’s largest soup kitchens, Miriam’s Kitchen. In addition to working directly with children in residential and classroom settings, Tom has worked as a policy analyst at both the state and federal levels. His work at the Children’s Law Center includes management of the Families in Transition Program and Case Management services in our Representation Program.
Hollis Belgrave is our staff paralegal. In addition to providing support for the attorneys in the Representation program, she handles the Law Line on a full time basis. She is a graduate of the University at Buffalo with a B.A in Political Science and a concentration in Pre-law. She received her paralegal certificate from Millard Fillmore College.
Alison Mundy is our Director of Development. Prior to Children’s Law Center, Alison served as Studio Manager at West Hartford Yoga for five years, helping grow the business from its inception to one of the largest yoga centers in New England. At Watkinson School in Hartford, Alison held the position of Annual Fund Coordinator for two years, as well as grant writer for Watkinson’s SPHERE summer enrichment program for inner city youths. Additionally, Alison has provided grant reporting for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the nation’s largest healthcare philanthropy. Her volunteer activities have included fundraising and event planning for Watkinson School, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, and the Connecticut AIDS Resource Coalition. She is actively involved with Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters, where she has served as a mentor since 2006. Alison has been a columnist and lifestyle reporter for Hartford Magazine and Redbook, and is the author of A Century of African Americans, a book profiling 300 of the twentieth century’s known and unknown heroes of African-American history.
Karen Renfro is an administrative professional. Her duties at the Children’s Law Center are currently concentrated in the financial department, including billing. Karen has been with CLC for many years, where she has contributed to many different areas, such as answering the law line calls, handling case flow, and acting as a liaison to court personnel. She holds a B.S. degree from the University of Oklahoma. She has worked in the non-profit sector since 1983.
Numerous volunteers round out the CLC framework. Trained Mediators volunteer their time to partner with our attorneys making our Families in Transition Program a viable mediation program.
CLC also offers internships for undergraduate and graduate students providing them with a realistic look into the legal system.
